02 Nov Thanksgiving Week Payroll Reminder
Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in the United States celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. Its origins can be traced back to the harvest festival celebrated by the Pilgrims in 1621, which was a gathering of the Pilgrims, Native Americans, and other settlers to give thanks for the bountiful harvest and the blessings of the past year.
Throughout the years, Thanksgiving became a time for families and friends to come together, share a meal, and express gratitude for their blessings. It was officially recognized as a national holiday by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863, during the Civil War. Since then, Thanksgiving has become an important part of American culture and tradition.
Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated with a variety of traditions, including cooking and sharing a large meal, watching football games, and participating in parades. Despite its controversial history, Thanksgiving remains a time for Americans to come together and express gratitude for the blessings in their lives.
