03 Feb Washington’s Birthday Reminder
Washington’s Birthday, also known as Presidents’ Day, is a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on the third Monday of February. It honors the birthday of George Washington, the first President of the United States, who was born on February 22, 1732.
Originally established by an Act of Congress in 1879, Washington’s Birthday was the first federal holiday to honor an individual American. Initially, it was celebrated on Washington’s actual birth date, February 22. However, in 1971, the Uniform Monday Holiday Act moved the holiday to the third Monday in February to provide workers with a long weekend.
